Back from a very relaxing (and what seemed to actually be long for once), wonderful weekend!

Friday Harbor 2010 was so much fun and I got to share it with all rookie visitors! Everything was as I left it nearly two years ago! Although a couple of new things have been added to the mix... like a flat screen TV at the house (welcome to the twenty-first century Giese family), a new video rental place, and a beautiful bench just off the ferry landing that is dedicated to my lovely grandparents Hans Otto and Borghild Giese.

The weather wasn't awesome, but we ate, drank, played a heated battle of boys against girls in catch phrase, went sailing with my fabulous uncle and saw some Canadians... whales that is! Anyone who knows me knows I LOVE wild life and I was dying to see some whales when we were out sailing and just as we were heading back, three transient Orcas (apparently they came from Canada) swam about 200 yards off the bow of the boat. They were amazing! I practically started crying I was so excited to see them. We also saw a raccoon, deer, a seal, a bear... oh wait, that was just Tar the 120+ lb dog! (Lily went on a warmer weekend getaway with her grandparents to Plain, WA).

Some of the foody highlights included drinks at an Island fav, Herbs, and a stop at the Hungry Clam. I would say the HC is up there with the finest Fish and Chips... the fries were amazing, tarter sauce totally yummy, cocktail sauce questionable... but they serve beer which is always a plus. I also think you can tell a lot by how good a restaurant's ranch dressing is. I was forced to have this because they didn't have blue cheese, and it was really good. Just like at Kappas!


Really great weekend, with geat company, lets just hope I get up there again before two years pass me by. Missed everyone who couldn't make it!
