Project Alert!

I love projects, and feel like I dont have the time, nor the space at home to complete them! I was recently at a Ruffles & Rust event and saw these adorable old frames with a chalk board surface instead of glass. They also had silver platters/trays with a chalk board surface that were just adorable. When my girlfriend shared that there was a chalk board paint on the market, I decided to save the $30 they were selling these for and make my own!

What You'll Need:
- Chalk board paint (available at Home Depot; comes in different colors, green, black, etc.)
- A good synthetic paint brush
- Paper towels and newspaper for set-up
- A cute frame (complete with glass)
- Chalk pens (basically like a paint pen that doesn't leave chalk dust and washes off with water)

First, make sure the glass is clean and you have a clean surface to set up. Remove the glass from the frame and set on newspaper. Shake paint can, remove lid and mix well before your start to paint. Evenly coat the glass and let dry for about 3 hours.

Repeat two, or three more coats until your desired look. I went for three coats. Let dry about three days, then put your frame back together and hang! Ta dah! Yes, its just that simple. I started off small with my project, but someday I plan on creating a chalk board wall or larger frame.

That is adorable Margorie and looks excellent in your kitchen! We've been considering doing something similar in the nursery.
